Invitational Ads

At this time the Jefferson High School Orchestra is seeking donors to place ads in the 2018 Jefferson Orchestra Invitational Program. This annual event reaches hundreds of orchestra students, parents, and teachers across the state of Iowa. The Invitational will be held on April 21st, 2018 at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The revenue from ad sales helps funds the Jefferson Orchestra Festival and is imperative to the success of the event and our orchestra program. This event is extremely unique, as it is the only Orchestra Invitational in the state. Please consider supporting this educational opportunity!

The ads will be placed in a program that is 8.5” x 11”. Please note all ads will be printed in black and white this year to help us reduce printing costs.

Holiday Concert Dec. 18th

The holiday season is upon us! Our Holiday concert is this upcoming Monday December 18th, 2017. This concert is in conjunction with the entire Jefferson Music Department, so the choirs and bands will be performing as well. The Band concert will start at 6:00 with the Choir/Orchestra concert following at 7:30.
Wires on Fire will be performing in the lobby between the two concerts. Students in Wires on Fire should meet in the orchestra room at 6:40 and will start playing as soon as the band concert lets out.
All orchestra students should arrive no later than 7:00 p.m.!
Unlike other concerts, there will be an admission charge to get into the auditorium. Prices are $5 for adults and $2 for students I believe.
Students need to wear their concert black uniforms provided by the school (tux or dress). Students will need to wear their own closed toe black shoes and socks with their attire.
Please send your student to school with a holiday baked good or snack that the orchestra can sell in the lobby. This baked sale is normally a big hit and is a way for us to make a little money for the program.
Wires on Fire will be going on tour December 21st to spread holiday cheer throughout the community. They will perform at the ELSC, Roosevelt Middle School, and West ridge Care center. Please sign and return a permission form so your child can attend.

Halloween Concert and Parade

Mon. Oct. 23rd is our first performance of the year, our Fall/Halloween concert at 7pm in the auditorium. Students should arrive by 6:30 for warm up and tuning. Students should dress in a school appropriate costume, or can wear all black if they choose not to dress up in a costume. There will be trick or treating for little kids beforehand, performance at 7pm, costume contest (with Peoples Choice tickets for sale) in the middle. Performance is free to the public. Also on Fri. Oct. 27th at 7pm Jefferson Orchestra will collaborate with the Cedar Rapids Community String Orchestra to participate in the first ever Cedar Rapids Halloween Parade through NewBo and Czech Village, come out and see us at both events!

JOPA Meeting Oct 10th

Our Parent Association meetings (JOPA) are typically held the 2nd Tuesday of the month, and our next one will be Tues. Oct. 10th at 7pm in the Orchestra Room. Come and meet other parents, the teacher and learn about what plans we have for the orchestra this year.
